Had some great Spring rains and sunshine of late. Early summer now and the grass is high. Waist height. Looks like we might be in of more wet weather, especially if you believe the old tale that when cows lie down rains on the way. Well the girls were certainly lying down, and the clouds might betray some heavy falls. However, what a photo fails to show are the moments before that fraction of a second.
The whole herd have spent the entire morning chomping on that pasture as if it’s about to de-materialise any second – to be consumed by a locust plague of biblical proportions. So I think this girls lying down has less to do with being a rural barometer and more to do with being a little too content.
I mean just look at that expression on her face!
